Founded in 1948, Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE symbol: RHI) is the world’s leading specialized staffing firm and the first to provide placement services for accounting, finance and information technology professionals.
In 2000, RHI became the first staffing firm to be added to Standard & Poor's widely tracked S&P 500 index. For 2003, the company reported revenues and net income of $2.0 billion and $6.4 million, respectively. And for the 10 years ended December 31, 2002, RHI ranked in the top 1.5 percent of all NYSE firms trading during this period based on total return. The company was also in the top 2.5 percent of the S&P 500 based on total return over this same period, underscoring our performance over the long term. Most recently, RHI Chairman and CEO Max Messmer was named 2003 CEO of the Year by Morningstar, an independent global investment research firm, based on our company's track record in increasing long-term shareholder value.
RHI has repeatedly been listed on the Forbes Platinum 400 list of the best big companies in America, ranking as one of the top U.S. business services firms for investor returns and growth. The company has also consistently appeared on Fortune magazine's list of "America's Most Admired Companies." Fortune's list rates firms based on criteria ranging from long-term investment value and quality of management to innovativeness, employee talent and social responsibility. In addition, BusinessWeek featured RHI in a September 2002 cover story as one of several companies with a history of ethics and integrity in business. In April 2002, RHI was included in the magazine's list of 12 companies with the strongest balance sheets. BusinessWeek researched a database of 7,000 companies to determine the list.

Specialized Industry Leader
As the first and largest specialist in the placement of accounting, finance and information technology professionals, RHI is uniquely positioned through its various divisions to fill the demand for temporary, full-time and project professionals in these areas.
Employment opportunities in accounting and finance are promising, with jobs for accountants and auditors expected to increase 19 percent from 2000 to 2010, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This includes demand for accounting temporaries, particularly those with solid technical skills. The accuracy and consistency made possible by desktop computing and the latest off-the-shelf accounting software have contributed to the increased use of financial temporaries among businesses.
Technology, business consolidation and globalization are also fueling demand for senior accounting and financial management talent on a project basis. These seasoned professionals handle such initiatives as business process re-engineering and financial systems conversions and upgrades. They are a key resource for companies in the midst of a merger or in a critical startup phase and are also skilled in handling complex issues related to internal audit and tax matters, business planning and financial modeling.
Similarly, experienced professionals are needed on a project or consulting basis in the technology field, which has some of the country’s fastest-growing occupations. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects increases of 82 percent in the number of positions for network and computer systems administrators, and a 97 percent rise for computer support specialists, between 2000 and 2010. It also predicts job growth for software engineers of up to 100 percent, depending on area of expertise, for the same time period. Demand is strong for contract information technology professionals to implement new systems and technologies and to train internal staff members.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics also projects greater demand for administrative support personnel, and anticipates that between 2000 and 2010, close to 2.2 million new jobs will be created in this field. Companies expect these professionals to be highly skilled and to excel at a wider range of duties, use more sophisticated tools and provide optimal accuracy in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
