RHA Health Services, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit corporation that was chartered in 1991 in North Carolina. The company is headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina.
RHA has supported people with mental retardation for roughly fifteen years through a variety of residential and periodic services. Currently, RHA serves over 1,000 individuals in North Carolina, and employs over 1,500 trained staff. As specified later, this encompasses the efforts of many disciplines, including habilitation, nursing, medical, psychiatric and behavioral, social work and case management, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, vocational training and community integration.
We have well developed and documented screening and training methodologies to ensure that the skills of our employees are maintained and enhanced. We support people who have a broad range of skills and abilities as well as needs. Many individuals that we support have two or more disabilities, as well as chronic illnesses such as diabetes and osteoporosis.
This intensity and mix of disability and health issues have required the development of significant skills and sophistication in both the delivery and oversight of services. Our experience has also given us the skill to successfully confront the challenge of integrating the efforts of multiple disciplines and provider staff, and the desires of the family and the individual. We strive to use all of this energy and knowledge to find the most effective therapeutic and training opportunities, while still protecting the individual's rights and their right to choice, and to maximize the opportunity for a consumer driven service.
We developed a significant number of residential and other community based opportunities for the former Thomas S. (MR/MI) class individuals, working closely with area programs and the families and individuals themselves. We have also developed services in collaboration with the Area Authorities/Local Management Entities to support people with severe and persistent mental illness and substance abuse treatment needs. We are also supporting people with mental illness through periodic services.
Letter from the CEO of RHA Health Services, Inc.
At RHA Health Services, Inc., we see the possibility in every face. An ability to learn. A desire to achieve. A wish to take part in the community. RHA is a nonprofit company offering a range of services for people with developmental disabilities, as well as for their families, other agencies and providers.
Our aim - making possibilities become realities.
How does RHA do this? By putting the individuals we support at the center of everything we do. By asking, "What are this person's specific needs? Abilities? Dreams?" and then providing the individual with exactly the right resources. Instead of saying, "These are the services we offer" - we ask, "What are the services you need?"
Home. Work. Community. In all of these spheres, individuals have the opportunity to learn "life skills" - the skills that allow a person to achieve maximum independence. RHA's services cover a wide range of areas, including residential, vocational and periodic services. At RHA, we support people of diverse skill levels and of all ages, from school-age children to retired adults.
Common threads run throughout RHA's services: The warmth and professionalism of our staff. Our commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment, and our willingness to adapt our services to meet individual needs. And something more - the heartfelt belief that in every face, there is a possibility.
What makes RHA truly unique among service providers is our flexibility. Yet we are unwavering in one area and that is the high standard of quality we set for ourselves.
Our mission is to provide a safe and healthy environment while creating opportunities for personal outcomes for the individuals we support. RHA is known for providing high quality services, excellent staff training and opportunities for advancement.
