The venerable Beacon Sales Company was founded in 1928 in Somerville, Mass. as a commercial roofing supply business. Today Beacon Sales continues to provide both established and growing contractors with its superior brand of customer service and with roofing and related products from leading manufacturers.
In the 80s and 90s, Beacon expanded to 10 locations throughout New England. Each branch conveniently located near contractors for job-site delivery offering quality service and products and value-added services like tapered insulation system design. Beacon branches offer a full line of commercial and residential roofing and related products.
In the early 90s a Beacon Reps division was formed to provide effective marketing to owners and architects/specifiers to maintain and increase market share for those roofing system manufacturers represented by Beacon and for the local contractors approved to install their systems.
In 1998 Beacon Sales Company was acquired by an investment banking firm and became part of Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc. a corporation of highly-reputed regional distributors of roofing products.
In 2000 Beacon Sales Company added a full-service metal shop, Coastal Metal Service, to its array of specialized roofing services. Beacon’s metal shop fabricates custom metal details for commercial and residential projects and manufactures complete metal roofing systems either in the shop or at the job site with a portable roll former.
At Beacon Sales Company quality service does not end with the delivery of roofing materials – it ends with the successful completion of a roofing project.
Our knowledgeable, experienced staff advise contractors on how to select materials, how to upsell higher quality more profitable systems, and how to perform quality installations.
We regularly train Beacon staff AND our contractor customers on new products and systems.
We provide timely reliable delivery of materials to the job site and rooftop with delivery equipment including flatbed trucks, cranes, and portable forklifts.

Beacon’s Coastal Metal Service specializes in producing custom metal details for roofing systems and metal roof systems including:
High-end residential copper gutters and downspouts;
Drip edge, flashing, and other metal details for commercial roofing systems in a choice of metals and colors; and Complete metal roof systems with several profiles for commercial and residential applications manufactured in the shop or roll-formed on site to minimize waste and assure a tight fit.
