Medical Insurance
There are three different medical insurance plans offered by Mercy. Employees select coverage for themselves or for their entire family.
Two of the plans allow you to decide whether you'll use a particular physician and facility network each time you need care. Your costs are even lower at a Mercy facility.
In the third plan, you agree to only use facilities and physicians that are "in network." You would have lower premiums, but if you go out-of-network, only emergency claims are covered.
Mercy pays 75 to 80 percent of the total medical insurance premium no matter which plan is chosen.
Dental Insurance
The dental program provides comprehensive coverage, including preventative care. Mercy pays the full cost of preventative services and shares the cost of other services with you. While you can go to any dentist you choose, your share of the cost will be discounted if you use an in-network dentist. You may choose coverage for yourself or for you and your family.
Vision Program
Our vision program covers part of the cost for eye exams, glasses and contacts, no matter who your provider is. You may choose in-network providers for lower out-of-pocket expenses.
My Wellness First

Strengthening Your Future
Retirement Savings Plan
A partnership between you and Mercy, this plan includes your savings and matching contributions from Mercy. Also known as a 403(b)--a form of 401(k) accounts for non-profit organizations--this is a tax-sheltered annuity plan.
Anyone who participates is eligible for matching contributions. This means that Mercy matches each $1 you contribute with a 50 cent contribution each pay period up to 5 percent of your pay. That's like an additional 2.5 percent of your pay paid into your account.
All employees are immediately eligible to participate. You are vested in your contributions immediately and in Mercy's after 26 pay periods.
Pension Plan
Paid for entirely by Mercy, your benefit is determined by your years of service and pay. You are vested after five years of service, in which you are paid for at least 1,000 hours per year. It grows steadily each year with a minimum 6 percent interest rate, even if there is a weak financial market. If the market is stronger, the interest is based on U.S. Treasury Bill rates plus 1 percent.
Life Insurance
Mercy's life insurance program offers protection for your family in the event of your death. Mercy automatically funds a policy for you at one times your salary.
You can purchase supplemental life insurance through Mercy for yourself, your spouse and/or your children.
Flexible Spending Account
You may set aside pre-tax dollars on a regular basis to pay for certain reimbursable healthcare and dependent care expenses in the same calendar year.
RISEN
The RISEN program invites Mercy healthcare practitioners to learn more about the spirituality of patient care, relationships with colleagues and your own spirituality.
Gain greater satisfaction in your work
Grow from the relationships you develop with other healthcare providers.
Develop an understanding of yourself.
Reduce your stress.
Heal from personal distress.
Each person's spiritual path is honored.
Tuition Reimbursement
Full-time employees can obtain up to $5,000 per calendar year to apply to college tuition. Part-time employees can obtain a pro-rated amount.
After completing the first 90 days on the job, employees can apply for tuition reimbursement to be paid after the course is completed. Courses must be of clear value to Mercy and be related to the employee's position or another position at Mercy.
Family-Friendly Benefits
Paid Time Off Program
You choose how to use your Paid Time Off or PTO. You will begin to accrue hours on your first day of work. While you may only use these hours for Mercy recognized holidays in your first 90 days, after that you may use them for vacation, holidays and sick days. It is up to you.
You may save your PTO hours until you reach 150 percent of your Total Annual Maximum Accrual. At that point, no new PTO hours are accrued until you use some time off or--for non-exempt employees--you "cash in" some of your hours.
